What is Grudiz Tablet & How it Works
Grudiz contains the active ingredient letrozole, which belongs to the class of arromatase inhibitors. It helps reduce estrogen production in postmenopausal women, thereby slowing or stopping the growth of hormone-receptor positive breast cancer cells that depend on estrogen to grow.
Because many breast cancer cells need estrogen to proliferate, by limiting estrogen availability, Grudiz helps deprive them of a fuel source. It can be used in various treatment strategies—after initial therapy, in extended settings, or in advanced disease management.
Grudiz Tablet Uses & Indications
Grudiz (Letrozole 2.5 mg) is indicated in postmenopausal women for:
-
Adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor–positive early invasive breast cancer
-
Extended adjuvant therapy in women who have completed 5 years of tamoxifen therapy
-
First-line therapy in hormone-dependent advanced or metastatic breast cancer
-
After relapse or disease progression in women previously treated with anti-oestrogens
-
Neoadjuvant therapy (prior to surgery) in selected patients when chemotherapy is not suitable
Important Note: Grudiz has not been shown effective in hormone receptor–negative breast cancers.
Dosage & Administration
-
The typical dose is 2.5 mg once daily, taken orally (with or without food)
-
In adjuvant or extended-adjuvant settings, treatment is usually continued for up to five years (or until relapse)
-
In neoadjuvant use, treatment may be given for 4 to 8 months to achieve optimal tumor shrinkage
-
No dose adjustment is generally required for elderly patients, or for patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh A or B)
-
If a dose is missed and it’s more than 2–3 hours until the next dose, skip the missed dose (do not double up)
- For Infertility the recommended starting dose should be 2.5 mg daily for 5 days, starting from day 2 of menstrual cycle.
